Better Questions (and a Possible Answer) about What Lies Before Birth and After Death
Reflections of a Contemplative Celtic Christian
I have always enjoyed the following Eugène Ionescu quote, “It is not the answer that enlightens, but the question.”
In this spirit, I am constantly on the lookout for better questions.
As a self-described seeker, questions about life, before birth and after death have always fascinated me.
As such, a good question to pursue might be: Why do we know nothing about those experiences beyond the borders of birth and death?
A better question is: How might we attain such knowledge?
In previous posts, I’ve mentioned Rudolph Steiner’s book, “Knowledge of Higher Powers and its Attainment” and I won’t belabor the point, but I will tell you that the book opens with one of the most provocative sentences I have ever read: “There slumber in every human being faculties by means of which he can attain a knowledge of higher worlds.”
What if the answers to our deepest questions don’t lie outside of ourselves but rather within?
Now, doesn’t that strike you as a question that might enlighten?
